Traditionally, the last issue of each eJIFCC volume contains the reports of IFCC PSEP (Professional Scientific Exchange Programme) participants and selected articles in different fields submitted to the Editor. This year PSEP report on "Polymorphic Variations in 5-HT2A, 5-HTT and DISC 1 in first episode schizophrenia patients" has been submitted by Laura M. Gonzales from Spain. The issue content includes also a review article "Adiponectin and metabolic syndrome in women at menopause", and two original manuscripts "Bone turnover markers and osteoprotegerin in uncomplicated pregnancy" and "Measures of diagnostic accuracy: basic definitions".

I take this opportunity to wish all IFCC Members and all eJIFCC Readers A Happy and Successful New Year 2009

Sincerely yours,
Grazyna Sypniewska
