Visiting Lecturer Programme

The IFCC-Abbott Visiting Lecturer Programme is generously aponsored by Abbott Diagnostics.
A tool to facilitate international educational exchanges within IFCC.

The aims

The IFCC-Abbott Visiting Lecturer Programme (VLP) is a programme to support international exchange of lecturers. The VLP aims to contribute to the creation of educational networks which would bring together activities in different IFCC regions. The applications for funding can come from a National Society, or from an individual institution. If it is an institutional application, then a letter of support from the National Society must be included with the application.

The application procedure

The application forms are available from the IFCC Office and by clicking here.

Applications are accepted at any time throughout the year. They must be submitted at least 4 months prior to the proposed visit in order to ensure adequate time for review. The decision to approve or deny a requested speaker will be made by the Chair of the VLP and the Executive Committee of the EMD.

The typical application:

  1. The lecturer does not need to be identified by name: if requested the VLP Chair would help to identify a lecturer with appropriate expertise.
  2. IFCC funds will cover the travel portion of the visit. It is expected that the National Society will fund the hotel accommodation, meals and local transportation. Under extraordinary circumstances, exceptions to these guidelines may be considered.
  3. Each member association may apply for one Visiting Lecturer each year. The Visiting Lecturer should give more than one lecture and/or conduct a workshop. It is hoped that the Visiting Lecturer will be able to deliver lectures and conduct workshops in more than one country, i.e. the Visiting Lecturer could be organised on a regional basis.
  4. Applications should be submitted at least 4 months prior to the proposed VLP.

Both the National Society and the IFCC-Abbott Visiting Lecturer are to complete the appropriate survey forms and to submit a brief report to the Chair of the IFCC Visiting Lectureship within two months of the IFCC Visiting Lecturer's visit.
